Dr. Susan Calverley has lived in Mission for almost 18 years. Her hobbies include kayaking, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors with her family and pets. She has 3 two-legged children, and 3 four-legged children; "Prince" a Cocker Spaniel, "Kariya" a Golden Retriever, and "Kaos" the cat. The most rewarding part of Dr. Calverley's job is the relationship she has with the pets and their families and being able to help them enjoy each other more. Her love of animals and the challenge of medicine was what made her decide to become a veterinarian.
Since 2006, Dr. Calverley has been studying rehabilitation medicine for animals with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. Having been an athlete in her former life, she understands and appreciates the contribution of physiotherapy and chiropractic medicine to living a full and pain free life. As part of the Wellness Animal Group, she is now available for consults of both an orthopedic and neurological nature. Besides a thorough evaluation of mobility and lameness issues, she provides therapeutic exercise programs, laser therapy and surgical options. Dr. Calverley also offers advanced techniques in veterinary medicine such as stem cell therapy and bracing and orthotics as alternatives for conditions such as osteoarthritis and cruciate ligament injuries.
Dr. Chris Foell graduated from the
Ontario
Veterinary
College in 1985. She developed extensive experience in medicine and surgery at a high technology multi-doctor practice in BC, followed by becoming a practice owner in Abbotsford for 13 years. While her veterinary interests are many, Dr. Foell particularly enjoys the challenges of internal medicine, as well as cardiology, geriatric medicine, dermatology, surgery and dentistry. She also has experience with many exotic pets.
Dr. Foell remembers always wanting to be a veterinarian. She has volunteered and worked in veterinary hospitals since the age of 15. She enjoys mentoring students and exposing them to the world of a veterinarian, a world in which science, medicine and the love of animals blend together. She has done many presentations at schools on various veterinary related topics.
Away from her life as a veterinarian, Dr. Foell enjoys spending time “hanging out” with her family, which currently includes her husband, 2 children, 3 stepchildren, “Buddy” the Dalmatian, “Max” the cat and “Corny” the mouse. She also loves hiking, canoeing, backpacking, windsurfing and outdoor photography. Dr. Foell also serves on the Board of the
Fraser
Valley Brain Injury Association.
**Dr. Foell is available to see all types of patients from birds, reptiles and ferrets to cats and dogs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
