This where we perform all of our surgeries. We adhere to strict sterilization and cleaning protocols for this room. There are 2 anesthetic machines; one, for use while we are preparing the patients and the other, for during surgery procedures. Surgical patients are attached to intravenous fluids, doppler blood pressure monitor and sometimes an ECG (Electrocardiogram) machine. Our circulating-warm water heating blanket keeps our patients warm during the procedures, which maintains their blood pressure at a normal level. While the doctor performs the surgery, the veterinary nurse is with the patient at all times monitoring the anesthesia levels, checking the blood pressure, heart rate and respiration rates, adjusting the IV fluid rates, and is readily available to assist the surgeon in any way.
